As the Director of Advancement at Grace Therapy and Wellness Center, I strive to be a dynamic, courageous and accountable leader. My ongoing learning of anti-racism has taught me that there is no objectivity in this work, mistakes are inevitable, and the only constant is change. With this wisdom and a desire to do my part to change the systems of oppression that disadvantage people with non-dominant identities, I lead this organization forward into a hopeful future.
With my license in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Certificate in Sex Therapy, I approach therapy with the belief that all problems are relational, and can be healed relationally too. In therapy with me, we will create a secure base for you to explore yourself from, starting with understanding the societal and family scripts and identities that make up who you are, and forming a solid relationship based on humor, unconditional positive regard, and compassionate challenges.
I support my clients with relational trauma, anxiety, sexual issues, identity exploration, boundary-setting and communication skills, and professional and personal growth. Trained at Northwestern University’s renowned Family Institute, I use Integrative Systemic Therapy, a model that provides a framework for conceptualizing problems as being between people and systems rather than within the individual. This model incorporates interventions from research-backed treatments such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman couples therapy, and CBT.
Since 2015 I have been an AAMFT Approved Supervisor of other couple and family therapists and supervisors in both individual and group settings. Using my experiences from over a decade of being a clinician and supervisor in community mental health, private practice, nonprofit, and higher education, I support my supervisees to find their own personal style, make decisions knowing that “it depends”, form heart-led professional relationships, and reach their goals in the field.
It is a deep honor to be trusted to lead in these ways. According to Brené Brown, who wrote Dare to Lead, a leader is someone who takes the responsibility of finding the potential in people, and dares to develop it. I believe a better world is possible- and I know you do too- so let us join forces.
