About Kit
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming. Whether it’s from life transitions, past or recent trauma, a different way you navigate the world, or a lack of understanding from others and society around your gender/sexuality/relationship practices; having support through that overwhelm can be extremely beneficial. As our relationships with others contribute to the challenges we face, I believe that we are able to repair what happened in relationship and honor the unique attributes that make you who you are. My ideal client is open to working with thoughts, emotions, behaviors, meaning, and what they feel in their body.
I work with both individuals and couples to explore who they are and want to be, what has contributed to them being where they are now, and how to move forward. All my therapy is done through a relational-cultural model and uses a blend of therapy practices to look at a person holistically including how society, culture, and experiences have shaped life.
I work primarily with individuals who have either experienced trauma or are outside of the cisgender-heterosexual-monogamous societal framework. We will start by identifying what you want to work on and collaborate on a plan to address things that keep your life from where it wants to be. Most clients begin seeing progress in the first month with continued growth and stability following.
I utilize the relational-cultural theoretical model in all aspects of therapy. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), and have completed Intermediate 1 of Somatic Experiencing. This allows focus on how our thoughts, emotions, body, and behaviors influence each other within cultural backgrounds to rebuild relationships.
You aren’t alone in this, none of us are. If I sound like someone you want to have with you on your journey, please reach out. I’m Kit, it’s good to have you here.
