Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Mia sees clients Virtually and in Oak Park

Are you feeling like it’s hard to authentically connect with others? Are you feeling unheard or unseen in your identities? As a relational therapist, I recognize that our connections with others are the basis of both the greatest struggles and the greatest rewards we can know as humans. I specialize in work with couples, families, and individuals who have "non-traditional" relationships and sexualities. My work with clients is open and collaborative, often using narrative therapy, attachment theory, and systems theory to help people flesh out their sense of identity and strengths.

In 2017, I graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies. In 2022, I received a Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy from Purdue University Northwest. Throughout my experience as a practicing clinician, I have found ways to marry my undergraduate and graduate experiences in a way that honors clients’ perspectives and connects the stories that arise in therapy to overarching themes and systems of influence. I attend supervision with Elana Thomas, LCSW.

In the past, I have worked with clients who are dealing with relationship and communication issues, anxiety, non-monogamy/opening their relationships, chronic illness, identity exploration, and kink/BDSM. My therapeutic approach is based in narrative and feminist therapies and focuses on the strengths that the client brings to the therapy room. With couples, I often incorporate attachment theory and some Gottman interventions as well. I have a strong focus on fostering connection and highlighting clients’ strengths.

I identify as queer--the fluidity that it affords me is integral to how I understand my own experience. In my free time, I enjoy chatting with friends and loved ones, doing puzzles, reading, and doing fiber arts. I have recently gotten into tarot as a tool for self-reflection and try to engage in various art forms to ground myself often.

Starting therapy with a new person can be hard and I want to get to know you and your needs. This is a great time to bring any questions or concerns you might have about starting therapy. Please reach out to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation to see if we would be a good fit! I look forward to getting to know you!
