Trauma impedes our natural ability as humans to be able to identify and reach goals, and connect and form relationships with others. I know that this can all be worked through with a positive therapeutic relationship and guidance to rediscovering the inner knowing you possess about what you truly need to thrive. My personal approach to therapy is what allows for others to connect with me- I am laid-back, direct, funny, caring, and most of all, nonjudgemental. I provide that open space of comfort that is needed to be your authentic self.
As a child/adolescent, individual, couple, and family therapist, I use a strengths-based and relational approach to identify the emotional and behavioral change that you want to see within your life. Change isn’t immediate, but together we will be able to work through those moments of feeling stuck and address the root of the problems that hinder you. I specialize in working with couples who have experienced traumatic loss and hurt, and kids with emotional and behavioral struggles. I am aware of the ways that loss can either bring us together, or pull us apart- and in couple therapy with me, you will learn how to work as a team to heal your wounds. I work virtually, but am still able to engage with the kids and families with whom I work by sending an art therapy package for us to work on together throughout treatment.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Family Studies from Southeast Missouri State University. I have received my first master’s degree in Human Services with a focus in Counseling from Argosy University, and my second master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy with a focus in Child & Adolescent Therapy, from Northcentral University. I am currently working towards my doctorate degree in Psychology from California Southern University. My goals are to become an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and a Licensed Psychologist. I attend supervision with Maia Easley, LMFT, AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
Starting therapy is hard, so I would like to connect with you for a free 15-minute consultation to allow you to get to know me, and learn how to meet your needs! I look forward to hearing from you.
